HISTORY:

Long time ago, there was a small Sitio named “Candao” located three and a half (3.5) kilometers away from the town proper of Pandan, Catanduanes. The People here built their houses far from each other. The place is small, clean and with very industrious people. A very big tree about two meters in diameter can be found at the corner of the Sitio. It was the tallest tree in the area and it was named “Candao”. The name of the Sitio was derived from this tree. The trunk of the tree is made into furniture such as round tables, chairs, cabinets and many more by skilled carpenters. One of the famous carpenters in this place is Mr. Amado Olesco.

Significant changes were brought in this Barangay when the former Municipal Councilor of Pandan Lutgarda Alberto was assigned in this place. She invited the people especially those that lives far from the Sitio and asked them to rebuild their houses closer to each other to form a bigger community. Every family was given a piece of land to build their new houses and it later on became a community. Years later it was transformed into a Barangay.

During the term of Mr. Candido Velarde as Teniente Del Barrio, the Local Government ordered him to submit the name of their first school. However, it was not Mr. Velarde who gave the name of the school but Mr. Anselmo Cabrera which was the Teniente Del Barrio at the time. Mr. Cabrera named the school “ Lumabao Elementary School”. He was the first to establish the cleanliness and orderliness of their place.

Years have passed and the name “Candao” was no longer used by the people. They change it into Lumabao and is now at present Barangay Lumabao.
