HISTORY:
Long time ago, Barangay Lourdes is known in the name “Boyohan”. It’s a small and thick forested place. It is located twenty-one (21) kilometers away from the town proper of Pandan, Catanduanes. The first to have lived here were Domingo Trinidad and Pedro Sanchez.
As time passes by, due to the effort and initiative of the native people, they cut and removed plants and other things to widen their place and build their houses on it until the population gets bigger and bigger and became a barangay.
One day, a person carrying an image of Virgin Mary, Nuestra Señora De Lourdes came and gave it to the Barangay. The people were very happy to have an image of Virgin Mary in their place so the people agreed to change their name place from “Boyohan” to Lourdes and later on, it became Barangay Lourdes.
Barangay Lourdes is surrounded with river, mountains and sea, the people here mostly are farmers and fisherman.
