HISTORY:

Long time ago, Barangay Del Sur is known in the name “Bagum Bayan”. It is one of the four barangay in the poblacion or town proper. Located at the south western part of the Pandan Poblacion beside the swamp, it was once a part of barangay Libod which was administered by Teniente Del Barrio Juan Garcia.

In the year 1972, Bagum Bayan separated from Barangay Libod and became an independent barangay. It was first ruled by a Teniente Del Barrio in the name of Gerardo P. Isorena. He serves as Teniente Del Barrio from 1972 until 1980. Mr. Isorena, together with his parents and other relatives were one of the elders and the first settlers in this barangay. After his term, he was replaced by Romulo Eubra as Barangay Captain. Mr. Eubra served from 1982 to 1988.

During the years of Martial Law, there are only few houses that were built in this place and they are scattered with long distance from each other. The Public Cemetery was also built in this barangay. Along the cemetery are plants called “Pangdan” and “Moras”, this area along the cemetery were called by the people as “Halloween” place because they are afraid of witches and ghost that are said to have appeared in the place. The people calls it “Baro”

In the year 1979, one of the civilian in this barangay exploded a bomb in front of the cemetery which causes many destruction and have created a deep excavation in the land. Another event that has happened in this place was the ambushed of the New People’s Army (NPA) to the PNP which has killed four policemen along sitio Apad. It’s one of the worst events that have happened in this barangay. Barangay Del Sur has developed into a progressive and self-reliant community with healthy and well informed residents. The main source of income of this barangay is from farming and fishing. This barangay is divided into three Puroks and 2 Sitios and developments are yet to come.
